Profile Summary
I have been a resident of the Coffs Harbour area for the past 40 years.
As Mayor, I am committed to leading a co-operative and cohesive council to ensure the balanced and steady growth of the city.
Coffs Harbour is an exciting city in which to both live and work. My role as Mayor is to make sure that the services and facilities required by our growing community are successfully implemented.
I am particularly keen to see sports tourism continue to play a major role in our local economy. Coffs Harbour has proved itself successful in attracting major events to our city all year round and I will be working to ensure that we capitalise on that success.
NSW Local Government
I was honoured in 2007 to be elected chairman of the Country Mayors' Association Inc. of NSW, a position I held until 2010.
In October 2010, I was again honoured to be elected to the post of President of the Local Government Association of NSW after serving on the State Executive of that body since 2008. This is a position that comes with an enormous amount of responsibility at a time when local government issues are of critical importance. I am looking forward to continuing to demonstrate my strong commitment to local government and for greater recognition of the crucial role that local government has to play in these tough financial times.
Fire Service
I have been a member of the NSW Fire Brigades for the past 38 years and currently hold the position of Station Commander at Sawtell. I was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal in 2005 for services to the NSW Fire Brigade.
