Nine Councillors, including the Mayor, govern Coffs Harbour City Council. They abide by a series of Council Policies.
The minutes of Council meetings are placed on the website for the public to read. Meetings are held fortnightly.
Council publishes adverts and public notices to inform residents of events, projects, closures, planning matters and other services.
Council is committed to encouraging public participation. Engaging with the community assists Council to learn as much as possible about community needs, opinions and options before decisions are made.
Since 1 July 2010, Coffs Harbour City Council has been using a new set of strategic tools to set out the budgets, activities and performance measures to be pursued to help achieve the organisation's objectives.
The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW)(GIPA Act) introduces a new right to information system designed to meet the community's expectations of a more open and transparent government.
